Bringing qualified minority candidates to B2B tech sales
The death of George Floyd and countless other tragedies provide us an essential reminder: We must look past a person’s image—skin color, gender, etc—and begin focusing on equality. On Target Equality (OTE) was born in response to the current state of our country and the desire to help minority candidates gain access to the technology sales field.
The current software and technology sales hiring model is completely antiquated as it places far too much importance on a piece of paper (the resume) and "industry experience.” This is the crux for why hiring is most sales managers' biggest gamble and also drives the technology industry’s imbalanced demographics. Instead, OTE will leverage video-based content to share each candidate's "story" as the foundation for hiring. With this content and our industry knowledge we will be able help staff technology sales teams with quality talent from diverse backgrounds.
OTE is aimed at current or former student athletes of minority background whether they are college graduate or are currently employed in a different career. OTE is specifically targeting underrepresented ethnicities, as well as women to help balance the industry demographics.
BENNET WOODWARD, FOUNDER
Bennet Woodward, a Korean-American and former college athlete, is currently serving as VP of Sales at an enterprise software start-up. His 14-year career ascent is earmarked by being a part of two market-leading software companies which both had successful terminal events: An acquisition and an IPO. For a variety of reasons, Woodward believes that his professional success is attributed not to specific talents but instead the opportunity he was afforded.
“I believe that the most missed great irony for those of privilege or have achieved tremendous financial success is that by sharing your time, mind, experience, and hope with others, without financial gain, offers the most profit and self-reward that money cannot buy.”
